Styles of Opening Title Sequences
Symbolic editing
Dexter: Dexter has a symbolic OTS, these symbols include:
|
Linear editing
Linear editing has continuity and lets the story unfold. 'The Devil Inside' uses linear editing, as the OTS shows a story unfolding of a woman called Maria, who calls the police to then explain that she has killed 3 people. Afterwards we are shown the scene of what actually has happened. Non-Linear editing
Seven: Seven uses flickering images, showing you an idea of the story however not an actual part of the story, like linear editing. Nightmare on Elm Street: Nightmare on Elm Street uses visual representation again, hinting towards the story line with images of children's letter blocks (spelling out the words 'pain' and 'stop'), fire/burning and playground images. |
Our chosen style
Our chosen style is a non-linear as our idea is a confusing and is a twisted idea so we want our opening title sequence to also portray that.
