How do animals add to Horror?
Having animals in horror makes the genera feel more real and unpredictable, its likes they have a sixth sense. We are considering to include animals in our horror, we will make our decision on our research here...
Bird - The film called "The Birds" is about a series of widespread and violent bird attacks over the course of a few days. The genera of this is suspense/horror and was made in 1963. Using birds in this is effective because they are portrayed as harmless but in big groups in this case they can be deadly. These birds attack suddenly for a unexplained reason and the attacks are widespread and violent making it even more scary because you can't easily outrun a bird. Cat - A film from 1985 called "Cat's Eye" is a horror film where a travelling cat. This film is revolved around the cat. Black cats are considered bad luck if they cross your path as they are related to witches. Having a cat in our horror would make our movie unpredictable as wildlife has been raised up in danger so they would be very skittish and always keep an eye out. Snake - Anaconda (1997) is an adventure-horror film. This movie was directed by Luis Llosa. The film is about a National Geographic team being held hostage by a snake hunter who is hunting for the worlds largest anaconda. Also in the bible snakes were mentioned over 80 times. In one incident when they were in the garden of Eden. Snakes are considered to be loathsome creatures, associated with poison and craftiness. This fits in with the horror genre. The serpent was used by Satan to lie to Eve and lead her into disobedience. A snake is slithering, limbless, on the ground and we have a reminder of the Fall of man and the effects of sin. Ever since Satan spoke his lies through the serpent to Eve, the snake has been associated with sin. Having a snake in our OTS would make it better and different because it has ties with religion which might be seen as scarey in connotations of ghosts and spirits. Bear - Chernobyl diaries was directed by Bradley Parker and the genera of movie is an American disaster horror film in 2014. A group of friends travel across Europe and they stop in Ukraine on a visit. A member suggests to go on an "extreme tour" of Pripyat, an abandoned company town which is located in the shadow of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. The groups get attacked by their recently mutated tour guide and more mutants. There group exits with less numbers then they went in with. Bears have connotations of being caring and loving to their young but deadly to their prey. Males bears normally go around in solitude in the forest preying upon innocent victims. Incorporating a bear into our OTS would make our OTS always in suspense and danger. Horses - Sleepy hollow (1999) is an American adventure fantasy film directed by Tim Burton. This film was loosely inspired by the 1820 short story The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. The film is about a police constable who is sent from New York to investigate a series of murders by a mysterious Headless Horsemen in the town of Sleepy Hollow. Horses have connotations of being a driving force, literally. Horses were the main use of transport up until recently. Horses appear to be friendly but if they turn they can deal serious damage as they are heavily build animals. Including a horse in our OTS would make it unpredictable but yet having a caring and potentially deadly side to it. In conclusion, if we decided to use animals in our horror it would make the OTS more unpredictable and exciting, this would make our Horror that bit more exciting and nerve racking than any other. These are all the reasons why we thought we wanted to use animals in our OTS if we could accommodate it.
