MetacriticMetacritic is a site that rates films or TV shows etc. It scores films out of 100, if the film has a poor rating the colour of the box next to the title is red, meaning the film isn't good. If the colour of the box is yellow that means the film is good and the rating will usually be around 50. The green boxes are usually very high scores and means that film has been has been rated as very good.
The highest scoring horror films on the list are 'The Babadook' and 'A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night'. 'A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night' is about a vampire, yet 'The Babadook' is about a monster. The lowest scoring horror films on the list are 'Exists' and 'No Good Deed'. 'No Good Deed' is about an escaped convict that terrorises a woman. Whereas 'Exists' is about a group of friends that go to the wood to be stalked by Bigfoot. From these findings I can see that the top rated films have a creature killer, we can take this idea and use it, for example having a significant killer could be affective and make our OTS better. Also we will not use cliché or common ideas shown in the lower rated films, as one was about a group of teenagers in the woods, and another was about an escaped convict, these film plots are very predictable and we want our OTS to be quite original and unpredictable.
